FreeCommander has a lot of features though one of the features touted is
the search feature. In no way is this feature better than Xsearch. It is
rather rudimentary in fact.

What is your point? It's an excellent file manager, not a search
program. FYI, FreeCommander has an image viewer, but it's not as good
as IrfanView. And it has a multi rename tool, but some stand-alone
renamers have more features. Most FTP programs are probably more
versatile than FC's FTP feature. Etc. etc.

I vote for Agent Ransack as the premier searcher, if only for the reason
that it offers the option to search multiple drives at once; one of the
few searchers that need not first build a database in order to achieve
speed. But, I like FreeCommander, and XSearch for just one drive at a
time.

Tis why I prefer Q-Dir with it's four panes. Xsearch to perform file
searches. IrfanView to view images. Each does a better job for it's
purpose. Dang your dense. More features is not better.

You can easily search more than one drive at a time in both FreeCommander
and XSearch by C:\;G:\ (using a semi-colon as a seperator)

Hello,

oh my god, what kind of bashing is this? You don't like? Don't use.

There is a reason for this features, and it is not to compete with
each and every specialized tool in this world. freeCommander is
far better than Windows own tools. It's file search is better than
Windows' one, the image viewer is better, the text editor is
better. The two pane file management is better than Explorer. If
you want a better editor, you can configure to use that instead
(even different ones based on extension). So this can be used to
start better viewers also. Just use F4 when needed.

freeCommander is a starting point, way better than Windows
defaults. If you want the specialists, use them. Directly by
replacing included tools by configuration in some cases, as
configured tools in "program favorites" for every other possible
usage.

For example using fC portable on a stick helps you in many
occasions, and you will not need all your other tools also
portable (even if they are available maybe).

I even donated, as I love this one. And I really tried mostly each
and every two pane file manager in this world, it is worth.

So please BB, if you have something meaningful to say, do so, but
don't start such flame wars for no reason (other than just making
trouble in this group).

Regards,
Thorsten

Not only multipe drives, but multiple folders (and their subfolders)
selectively. Agent ransack is pretty handy all around for the vast
majority of searches that I do.

XSearch is easier (for me) on some searches when I need the "word
options" without having to build the search terms the A/R way.

Horses for courses, as they say.

It's not "dang your dense." It's "Dang you're dense." "You're" is the
contraction of "you are"--"Dang you are dense." "Your" is a possessive
pronoun, as in "your house," "your car," etc.

Also, you're using "Dang" as the introductory word in your sentence.
Therefore, the corrected sentence should read, "Dang, you're dense."

Dang, you're dense.
